Throughout history, Pridnestrovie's Dniester River has been the traditional border of Christendom. To the other side, in what is today Moldova, the muslim Ottoman empire used to dominate. This small outpost in Chasovenka, in Pridnestrovie, was for many years literally the frontier of the Christian realm.
